Seven new Polish Righteous awarded in Gdańsk

Seven Poles who saved Jews from the Holocaust in World War II received posthumous Righteous Among the Nations medals on Thursday at the Solidarity Centre in Gdańsk.

Israeli Ambassador Anna Azari said at the awarding that the seven distinguished persons were guided in their actions by human solidarity. "Let us not forget that the world will be better if people show one another solidarity," Azari admonished.

To date 6,863 Poles carry the Righteous Among the Nations title for helping Jews during the war. Poles constitute the biggest group of the Righteous.
