Security head, US officials discuss sanctions on Russia

Tightening sanctions on Russia dominated talks between Poland's security head and US officials on the sidelines of a sitting of the OSCE (Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe) Ministerial Council which begins on Thursday in Lodz, central Poland.

Jacek Siewiera, head of Poland's National Security Bureau (BBN), Victoria Nuland, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, and Michael Carpenter, the US ambassador at the OSCE, also discussed ways to strengthen the West's united stand against Russia's war on Ukraine.

The two-day sitting is chaired by Zbigniew Rau, Poland's foreign minister and current OSCE head.

The Ministerial Council is the OSCE's central decision-making and governing body.
