Russian charged with spying

A Russian citizen with Polish residency has been arrested on espionage charges, the National Prosecutor’s Office told PAP on Tuesday.

According to prosecutors, the man was gathering information on the Polish military and Nato units based in Poland for use by Russian intelligence.

The man, who has been living in Poland for the past 18 years, has been detained for three months pending trial.

Stanislaw Zaryn, director of the National Security Department at the Prime Minister's Office, said the Polish security services have also seized two Belarusians involved in espionage in Poland.
