Russia will attack others if it wins in Ukraine warns dep FM

"If we let Russia win this war, or allow... a situation in which it will be able to rebuild its potential... then it will simply attack again, it will attack not only Ukraine, but other countries as well," Jabłoński (L) warned. Jakub Kaczmarczyk/PAP

Russia will attack other countries or rebuild its military potential, if it is allowed to win the war in Ukraine, a deputy foreign minister said on Thursday.

Speaking at the Poznań Economic Congress, Paweł Jabłoński also said that the war and its resulting economic crisis had made security the top priority for Poland's foreign policy.

"If we let Russia win this war, or allow... a situation in which it will be able to rebuild its potential... then it will simply attack again, it will attack not only Ukraine, but other countries as well," he warned.

One of the main diplomatic challenges today, Jablonski added, was keeping the Russia-Ukraine war and its strategic implications in the global spotlight.

"The task for Polish diplomacy and that of other countries who see things the way we do, is to maintain interest (in the war - PAP)," he said. "This isn't even about the readiness to undertake this or that, we must start with keeping up interest in this problem, to spread the awareness that this is a matter of strategic importance."

The two-day Poznań Economic Congress is a regional debate platform for politicians and experts dealing with social and economic development.
