Retail sales down 7.7 pct y/y in May - stats office

Poland's retail sales decreased in real terms by 7.7 percent year on year and rose by 14.9 percent month on month in May 2020, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Monday.

Economists polled by PAP expected May's retail sales to fall in real terms by 12.9 percent year on year and increase by 8.1 percent month on month.

In current prices, sales decreased by 8.6 percent year on year in May against a 13.4 percent expected decline.

In April 2019, retail sales decreased in real terms by 22.9 percent year on year and by 12.3 percent month on month.
