Poland may introduce tighter Covid-related measures locally, if the healthcare system cannot cope, the government's spokesman has said.

Poland is experiencing a fourth wave, with infections and hospitalisations on the rise.

"If we introduce restrictions, it will be in the areas where the healthcare system is actually overloaded," Piotr Mueller said on Monday,

He added that there are places in Poland that already pose such risk.

Mueller also said that in case tighter measures were introduced, they would not apply to vaccinated people.
