President: Passing away of Kora means the end of an era

The passing away of Kora for many people of my generation, including myself, means a symbolic end of an era, President Andrzej Duda wrote on Twitter following the death of the singer, composer and leader of the band 'Maanam'.

"Dear Madame Olga, thank you. We will not forget! RiP," the president wrote.

Kora (Olga Sipowicz) died on Saturday morning at the age of 67 after a long battle against cancer.

"Kora was an important artist for generations of Poles. She was a full and accomplished artist," the Ministry of Culture wrote on Twitter, recalling that Kora had been awarded the Gloria Artis silver medal.

The Culture Ministry also offered condolences to the family of the deceased artist.

Kora, a rock vocalist and author of many hits, was the leader of the band Maanam in the years 1976-2008. Maanam was one of the most popular bands in the history of Polish rock
