President Duda signs bill amending 2020 budget

President Andrzej Duda has signed into law a bill amending the 2020 budget, his office announced on Friday.

The amendment increases the budget deficit from zero in the earlier version of the law to PLN 109.3 billion (EUR 23.8 billion). Budget spending is to grow by PLN 72.7 billion (EUR 15.8 billion) to PLN 508 billion (EUR 110.4 billion).

According to the amended budget, revenues will decrease by PLN 36.7 bln (EUR 8.19 bln) to PLN 398.7 bln (EUR 88.95 bln).

Poland's GDP is seen falling by 4.6 percent in 2020, against the 3.7-percent growth foreseen earlier.

Employment is to fall this year by 2.4 percent with wages going up by 3.5 percent.
