The president has called a meeting of the Cabinet Council, a consultative body comprising the president and the government, to discuss the current pandemic situation and the state's strategy for fighting Covid-19.

"President Andrzej Duda has called an online meeting of the Cabinet Council for 9:30 am on Friday," presidential spokesman Bartosz Spychalski announced on Twitter on Thursday.

The president's decision was announced after the publication of Health Ministry figures that showed Poland had recorded 27,887 new confirmed coronavirus cases over the past 24hrs and a record-high 954 deaths.
