Twenty electricity generators, bought with funds collected by US teachers, will head from Warsaw to Lviv on Tuesday.

The power generators, which will be presented to Lviv kindergartens and schools, have been purchased by the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).

The first shipment of 20 generators, out of 48 sponsored by the AFT, will leave Warsaw on Tuesday. A second consignment is planned for the end of February or the beginning of March.

"The second shipment will be directed into more distant parts of Ukraine," Sławomir Broniarz, the head of the Polish Teachers' Union (ZNP), told reporters.

The vice-president of AFT, Shari Obrenski, said she was glad that it was possible to support Ukrainian sisters and brothers "in such dark times."
