Pope Francis invited to Poland by president
President Andrzej Duda has invited Pope Francis to visit Poland.
"This will not only be a meeting with the Polish people but also an ecumenical meeting with our Ukrainian guests," President Duda told reporters after an audience with the pope in the Vatican on Friday.
According to Duda, the meeting with the pope in Poland "will surely be attended by tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians staying in this country."
Duda said that, following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Poland accepted a large number of war refugees from that country, and that the visit to Poland would be an opportunity for the pope to meet two nations.
Pope Francis last visited Poland in 2016.
