Polish woman wins first marathon gold at European Championships

Athlete Aleksandra Lisowska has become the first-ever Polish woman to win gold in the European Championship marathon.
Lisowska ran in the leading group for most of the race in Munich on Monday, before breaking away after the 40-kilometre mark and steadily increased her lead, finishing with a time of 2:28.34.
In second place came Matea Parlov Kostro of Croatia with a time of 2:28.42 with the Netherlands' Nienke Brinkman finishing third on 2:28.52.
Lisowska was the first Polish athlete to win a medal at the 2022 Munich games, which started on Monday.
