Polish students take two gold medals at int’l programming competition
Polish students captured two gold medals and two silver medals at the 27th Central European Olympiad in Informatics (CEOI 2020) which took place in Nagykanizsa, Hungary, announced the Ministry of Education on Tuesday.
Tomasz Nowak, a graduate of Public High School No. 13 in Szczecin, in northwestern Poland, achieved the top result in the CEOI. He captured the Central European Championship and won a gold medal. Also earning a gold medal, with the second best result in the competition, was Marcin Martowicz, a graduate of the Aleksander Fredro High School in Wrocław, in northwestern Poland.
A silver medal for fifth place was awarded to Jan Strzeszyński from the Stanislaw Staszic High School in Warsaw. Another silver medal went to Adam Górkiewicz, a graduate Belgian Polonia High School in Wrocław, who took 13th place.

A total of 14 teams from Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Germany, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Hungary and Italy took part in the 27th Central European Olympiad in Informatics, which took place on August 23-29, 2020. Each team consisted of 4 persons. Hungary, as the host country, was allowed to field two teams.
Earlier this year, in July, Poles took home 5 medals (a gold, silver and three bronze medals) at the Baltic Olympiad in Informatics.
