Polish students grab five medals in int'l computer science competition
Polish contestants have won five medals in the online-held 26th Baltic Olympiad in Informatics (BOI), the world's most prestigious computer science competition for secondary school students, the education ministry tweeted on Friday.
During the event, held on July 20-22, under the auspices of UNESCO and the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), students from 11 countries had to solve algorithmic problems.
Young competitors came from Poland, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and Ukraine. Each country could be represented by a maximum of 6 participants, winners of national contests in their countries.
Six gold, 11 silver and 15 bronze medals were awarded at BOI. Polish competitors ended up with one gold, one silver and three bronze medals.
A student from Sweden scored the largest number of points.
