Polish soldiers will soon resume Iraqi training - MoD
Polish soldiers who are on a NATO mission in Iraq will resume their training duties soon, Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said on Twitter on Thursday, quoting information from the headquarters of the NATO mission in Iraq.
NATO suspended its training operations in Iraq on Saturday after the United States killed Iranian General Qasem Suleimani, the commander of Iran's elite Quds Force, in an air strike.
"Currently, we haven't been receiving any signals for concern. The situation is heading towards a de-escalation of tension," the Polish defence minister wrote.
NATO began training Iraqi personnel in October 2018 in order to strengthen local forces and prevent the re-emergence of the jihadist group Islamic State.
