Polish ski mountaineers die in Slovak Tatras

Two Polish ski mountaineers died on Saturday in an avalanche under the Kondratova Kopa peak in Slovakia's Western Tatras mountain range, Slovak rescuers said on Sunday.

A third mountaineer managed to free himself from the snow and called for help, then returned to Poland over the nearby border.

The bodies of the avalanche victims were transported to the nearby locality of Liptovsky Hradok, where they are being identified by Slovak police.
