Polish president decorates two US citizens

President Andrzej Duda honoured two US citizens with the Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland during his visit to Washington DC, the President's Office announced on Thursday.

The Polish president granted the distinctions to Mark Sutton, CEO of International Paper, a US paper industry firm operating globally and a major investor in Poland, and Jacques Paul Klein, head of three UN peacekeeping missions in the former Yugoslavia, the President's Office said.

Ambassador Jacques Paul Klein cooperated with the Polish special unit GROM in the first operation to capture a war criminal in the former Yugoslavia.

On Wednesday, President Duda attended the state funeral of former US President George H.W. Bush along with US President Donald Trump and all the living former US presidents. Poland's former President Lech Wałęsa was also present at the ceremony.
