Polish president arrives in Washington to attend funeral of George H.W. Bush
President Andrzej Duda has arrived in Washington where he will attend the funeral of the 41st President of the United States George H.W. Bush, head of the President's Office Krzysztof Szczerski has told PAP.
Former Polish president Lech Wałęsa was on board the plane that Duda was flying on.
The former US president died on Friday night at the age of 94.
Born on April 12, 1924, in Milton, Mass., George H. W. Bush was a Republican and oil industry businessman. He served as America's 41st president for one term - 1989-1993. His bid for re-election ended in defeat by Democrat Bill Clinton. Prior to his presidency, he served as vice president to Ronald Reagan in the years 1981-1989. He also served as US ambassador to the UN and director of the CIA.
