Polish PM says Poland obliged to support Belarusians

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Twitter on Monday said that Poles are obliged to show solidarity and support Belarusians.

"Poland still remembers the breakthrough of 1989 and always supports its neighbours; I have appealed for an extraordinary sitting of the European Council and a determined response of the EU to the developments in Belarus," Morawiecki wrote.

Earlier on Monday, the PM appealed to the heads of the European Commission and the European Council to convene an extraordinary summit regarding Belarus. The appeal has been sent to EC President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel.
