The Sejm (lower house) on Thursday passed a resolution calling on the Russian Federation authorities to cease repressions against Alexei Navalny and his associates and to release those detained.

In a resolution, backed by 438 of out of 460 MPs, the Sejm condemned steps taken by Russian authorities against the Kremlin critic and called on the Russian Federation to "cease repressions against Alexei Navalny and his associates and to release the detainees immediately."

Navalny was detained at a Moscow airport after his flight from Berlin on Sunday evening, after being treated in Germany where he ended up in critical condition in August 2020 as a result of the use of a chemical warfare agent on him.
