Polish national airline signs letter of intent with Brazilian company
The Polish national air carrier LOT has signed a letter of intent with the Brazilian Azul company for the lease of 18 Embraer 195 medium-range planes and up to 14 options, PAP has been told by LOT.
LOT added in its press release that "by the end of 2020, LOT will have received ten out of 18 ordered planes."
"Thanks to this deal, LOT will become the biggest Embraer operator in Europe with a fleet of over 50 planes," the company said.
Rafał Milczarski, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines, was quoted as saying that the E195 jets are the core of LOT's short-haul fleet and will make it possible to further develop the flight network from its bases in Warsaw and Budapest.
LOT Embraer planes service domestic and medium-range flights, including such destinations as Frankfurt, Vienna, Munich, Barcelona, Geneva, Odessa, Kiev or Copenhagen.
At present, LOT has 37 Embrarer aircraft, including six Embraer170, 12 Embrarer175, 15 Embraer195 and four Embraer190 servicing only the London City destination.
Last year, LOT serviced over 10 million passengers. This is 1.1 percent more than in 2018. It offers 120 regular connections.
