Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak started his visit to Vilnius on Wednesday, where he plans to meet with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda and Lithuanian Defence Minister Raimundas Karoblis.

Błaszczak, accompanied by Poland's General Chief of Staff Rajmund Andrzejczak, laid flowers at the mausoleum of the Polish inter-war leader Marshal Józef Piłsudski, in which his heart and the ashes of his mother rest, at Vilnius's Rasos Cemetery.

During the visit, the Polish and Lithuanian defence ministers plan to sign an accession note on the affiliation of Polish and Lithuanian brigades to the Multinational Division North East, which coordinates the activities of NATO multinational battle groups deployed as part of the NATO Enhanced Forward Presence in the Baltic States and Poland.

The ministers will also sign a joint communique of the Lithuanian-Polish Council of Defense Ministers.
