Polish furniture exporters to expand on global markets - daily
Next year may see the beginning of Polish furniture manufacturers' transatlantic expansion as the European markets are becoming too tight for them, the daily Puls Biznesu wrote on Thursday.
According to the director of the Polish Chamber of Commerce of Furniture Manufacturers Michal Strzelecki, Polish producers are increasingly keen on going beyond the Old Continent and the new year will mark their "bolder entry into more distant markets such as the United States, Canada, India and the Middle East."
The Polish furniture industry has high hopes to overtake Germany in two or three years and become the world's second largest furniture exporter after China, the newspaper added.
In Strzelecki's opinion, these hopes are justified as the estimated value of Polish furniture exports in 2019 amounted to EUR 10.9 billion, and the year 2020 may see the strengthening of Poland's position in this respect.
However, the daily wrote, rapidly increasing labour costs can be a heavy burden for the furniture sector.
