Polish firms receive EUR 13.8 billion under anti-crisis package

A total of 345,542 companies employing 3.12 million people have so far received PLN 60.05 billion (EUR 13.75 billion) under the Polish Development Fund's (PFR) financial shield amid the coronavirus pandemic, PFR head Paweł Borys said on Monday.
Micro companies received PLN 18.7 billion (EUR 4.25 billion) while PLN 41.8 billion (EUR 9.5 billion) was directed to small and medium sized companies, PFR reported.
Borys underlined that the aid programme to micro companies and SMEs helped keep 2.5 million jobs.
According to Borys, 89 percent of companies which have motioned PFR for financial aid have been granted assistance.
The PFR Financial Shield is a government programme of financial support for companies hit by the coronavirus epidemic. It is directed to SMEs and is worth PLN 100 billion (EUR 22.2 bln).
