Polish firms eager to invest in environmental projects

The number of Polish firms investing in green solutions to reduce the harmful environmental effects of their operations has more than doubled over a year.

According to the Polish Economic Institute (PIE), "28 percent of Polish companies carried out investments aimed at mitigating their adverse impact on the environment in 2020.”

"This is a huge increase compared to last year's survey, which showed that just 13 percent of companies carried out such investments (in 2019)," PIE observed.

The survey also found that 37 percent of firms planned to invest in environmental measures this year.

"According to information found in both editions of the research, such investments were most often carried out by large companies, and most rarely by micro firms," PIE said.

But about 53 percent of Polish companies regard environmental regulations as a strong or very strong barrier to their operations.
