Polish filmmakers win awards at Lepizig festival

A Polish cinematographer has won an award in the Best Long Documentary or Animated Film category of the International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film, while another Polish filmmaker won a prize in the Best Documentary Short Film category.

The Silver Dove was granted to Karol Palka for his first feature-length film, Bucolic. This Polish documentary observes a mother and her daughter in their secluded life in the countryside. The award was accompanied by a EUR 6,000 prize.

The Golden Dove for best animated film went to Marta Pajek. The jury honoured her animated film 'Impossible Characters and Other Stories I' as a "complex exploration of passing away, life, and death."

In the same category, equal with Pajek, the Golden Pigeon was awarded to Cuban Alejandro Alonso for the film 'Abyss.' Alonso and Pajek also received a EUR 3,000 prize each.

The award ceremony was held on Saturday evening at the CineStar Film Festival cinema in Lepizig.
