Polish exports up 3 pct - Eurostat

Poland's exports in January-April 2019 grew by 3 percent year-on-year to EUR 74.6 billion, the European Union's statistics office, Eurostat, reported on Tuesday.

Poland's Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) rose to 2.2 percent year on year in May 2019, from a 2.1 percent reading in April, the report said.

The fastest export growth was recorded in the agri-food sector, up by 9.6 percent year on year to EUR 42.4 bln, and chemical industry, up by 7.8 percent year on year to EUR 126.4 bln.

In January-April, Polish imports increased by 2 percentage points year on year, to EUR 75.5 bln, the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology has said.

In the first four months of 2018, the exports of 28 EU countries increased by 4.9 percent to approx. EUR 654.9 bln, while their import grew by 6.6 percent to approx. EUR 676.7 mld.
