Polish e-commerce market expected to grow 12 pct annually - report
Poland's e-commerce market will probably grow at 12-percent a year for the next five years , and will hit PLN 162 billion (EUR 36 billion) in 2026, PwC consulting firm said in a report.
The research shows that the fastest growth will be seen in the sales of food, health and beauty products. PwC also said that in 2020 online services accounted for 14 percent of the value of retail sales in Poland, a share influenced by the pandemic and the accelerated development of e-commerce platforms.
Grzegorz Laptas, from PwC, said the market should see steady double-digit growth in the coming years, with nearly 85 percent of Poles declaring that they have no plans to cut back on their e-shopping habits when the pandemic ends.
According to the PwC’s analysis, over 74 percent of Poles said that after the end of the pandemic they will maintain their level of online shopping, while 10 percent intend to buy more online.
That growth will also result from the arrival of global giant Amazon in Poland, which, PwC believes, "will create another sales channel and an opportunity for Polish small businesses."
