Polish churches to celebrate more Christmas midnight masses
Some Polish churches will increase the number of midnight masses celebrated by Roman Catholics following an appeal by bishops.
The bishops made the appeal due to pandemic restrictions that cap the number of participants in church gatherings.
"The Polish Bishops Conference has called for an increase in the number of masses in churches and chapels where it is possible,” the conference said in a statement. “This will allow a larger number of the faithful to participate in the liturgy, which is extremely important for Catholics."
Following the appeal, some Polish churches decided to celebrate more than one mass, traditionally held at midnight on Christmas Eve. Additional services will be held at 8 pm and 10 pm.
The faithful who cannot come to the church will be able to attend in an online service.
