Polish Army growing in size – defence minister

My task as the head of the Ministry of Defence is to make the Polish Army grow in size, and this is happening, said Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak during the inauguration of the academic year at the Military University of Land Forces (AWL) in Wroclaw.

Blaszczak pointed out that the Military University of Land Forces in Wroclaw, northwestern Poland, is a very strong brand and a university that is very highly respected.

"AWL graduates belong to the elite of the Polish Army. It is a university that refers to the best traditions of Polish military education. It is a university that is developing. My task, as the minister of national defence, is to make the Polish Army larger in size, and this is happening. Every year, the admissions limit to the Military Academy of Land Forces is higher," said the minister.

The oath-taking ceremony for cadets beginning their first year of studies at AWL took place on Wednesday.

As part of the observance, letters written by President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki were read out to the participants of the inauguration of the new academic year.

The General Tadeusz Kosciuszko Military University of Land Forces is both a public and military university. It educates candidates for professional soldiers, as well as civilian students, and also grants doctoral degrees.
