Polish Armament Group to take part in OCEAN 2020 research programme
State-owned defence contractor Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) will cooperate with 40 European entities in the OCEAN 2020 research programme.
The OCEAN 2020 project, a European Defence Fund initiative, is to boost technological research in the naval domain including through the integration of unmanned aerial vehicles and unmanned platforms in surveillance operations.
PGZ, together with its Gdynia-based Centre for Maritime Technology R&D department, will take part in one of the latest projects launched by European Defence Agency, aimed at the development of allied naval capabilities on the EU's territorial waters.
PGZ, together with its Maritime Technology Centre, will offer its experience in the construction and integration of ship and land maritime surveillance systems prepared for the Polish Navy. The Polish defence industry will take part in the work on the system, its integration and in preparing exercises.
The OCEAN 2020 team, which will be led by Italian company Leonardo, comprises 42 partners from 15 European countries.
The Polish Armaments Group, a leader in the Polish defence sector and one of the biggest arms producers in Europe, is a conglomerate of more than 60 companies from the sectors of defence, shipbuilding and new technologies. The company's annual revenues reach around PLN 5 billion (EUR 1.18 billion).
