Polish Culture Minister Piotr Gliński and his Albanian counterpart Elva Margariti held a meeting on Wednesday in Warsaw, during which both discussed cultural cooperation and support regarding the recent earthquake in Albania, the Culture Ministry said.

Margariti is scheduled to participate in a two-day meeting of the European Social Policy Network (ESPN), which starts in Warsaw on Thursday. Albania will take part as an observer in the meeting.

The aim of Wednesday's talks was to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Poland and Albania, both in terms of culture and European cooperation

The meeting also concerned possible further support and involvement of Polish experts in the reconstruction of monuments in two cities destroyed after the earthquake that hit Albania in November 2019. After this tragic event, Poland expressed solidarity with Albania by providing assistance in various forms.

The potential involvement of Polish experts could relate to the protection of monuments - participation in work carried out by international teams, and at a later stage in conservation and reconstruction work.
