Poland's unemployment down in March - ministry

The unemployment rate in Poland fell to 6.4 percent in March from 6.5 percent in the previous month, the labour ministry reported on Wednesday.

The estimate is in line with the PAP consensus survey, which pointed to a 6.4 percent unemployment rate at end-March.

According to the ministry's preliminary data, the number of unemployed reached 1,079,800 people in March, having fallen by 19,800 from February.

Employers filed 115,500 job offers in March, up by 9.6 percent month on month, the ministry added.

Poland's Labour Ministry traditionally provides the early estimate unemployment rate for the previous month at the beginning of the following month, prior to the official release by the stats office GUS.
