Poland's solar energy capacity exceeds 4.0 GW

Poland solar-energy capacity Poland came to 4088.9 MW on February 1, 2021, power grid operator Polskie Sieci Energetyczne (PSE) said on Wednesday.

Over the whole of 2020, solar power capacity in Poland increased threefold from the 1299.6 MW it had at the start of 2020, PSE said.

Compared to 2019, installed photovoltaic capacity in the Polish system increased by 157.7 percent.

Last year Poland set a deadline of 2049 to abandon coal mining, as part of a broader shift away from fossil fuels. The government has also pledged to invest in renewable energy sources.
