Poland's Lewandowski nominated for "UEFA Player of the Year" award

Polish national team striker Robert Lewandowski, German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (both Bayern Munich) and Belgian Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) are the final three candidates for the "UEFA Player of the Year" award - the European Union announced on Wednesday.
The selection of the best players was made by the coaches of teams competing in the Champions League and Europa League group rounds and by journalists.
Lewandowski, Neuer and De Bruyne received the most votes. The winner will be announced on Thursday 1 October during the Champions League draw at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
Lewandowski (32) has had an excellent season. With Bayern, his team won the UEFA Champions League, the Bundesliga and the German Cup, and he was the top scorer in each of these competitions. In the Bundesliga he scored 34 goals, in the Champions League 15 and in the German Cup 6.
