Poland's GDP drops 1.6 pct y/y in Q3 - stats office

The Polish Gross Domestic Product (GDP) fell by 1.6 percent year on year in the third quarter of 2020, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) said in a flash estimate on Friday.

In the second quarter of 2020, the country's GDP slumped by 8.4 percent year on year due to the lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Compared to the previous quarter, Poland's economy grew by 7.7 percent in July-September, GUS also said.

Economists surveyed by PAP expected the third quarter GDP to decline by 1.7 percent year on year.

GUS will publish the full third quarter GDP figures on November 30.
