MEP Elżbieta Rafalska, a former Polish family and labour minister, will be recommended to become the chair of the European Parliament's Employment Committee, a source close to the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) has told PAP.

MEP Beata Szydło, Poland's former prime minister, will not run for the post again after her candidacy was rejected in a secret ballot last week.

According to PAP's sources, Szydło was voted down by Socialists, Liberals, Greens and the left-wing GUE group.
