Poland's CPI hits 9.2 pct y/y in January - stats office

Prices of consumer goods and services (Consumer Price Index, CPI) increased by 9.2 percent year on year, and by 1.9 percent month on month in January 2022, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported on Tuesday.
Economists polled by PAP Business estimated that January's CPI would reach 9.3 percent year on year and 1.9 percent month on month.
In December 2021, the prices of consumer goods and services increased by 8.6 percent year on year and 0.9 percent month on month.
January's CPI figure is the highest inflation reading in Poland in more than two decades.
