Poland's CPI hits 8.5 pct y/y in February - stats office

Prices of consumer goods and services (Consumer Price Index, CPI) increased by 8.5 percent year on year, and fell by 0.3 percent month on month in February 2022, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported on Tuesday.

Economists polled by PAP Business estimated that February's CPI would reach 8.1 percent year on year and drop by 0.5 percent month on month.

In January, the prices of consumer goods and services increased by 9.4 percent year on year, after a revision from 9.2 percent, and by 1.9 percent month on month.

January's CPI figure is the highest inflation reading in Poland in more than two decades.
