Poland wins another gold medal at canoe championships

Karolina Naja i Anna Puławska won the world championshipin in women’s K2 500m race on Sunday, while Aleksander Kitewski, Arsen Śliwiński, Wiktor Głazunow i Norman Zezula won silver medal in men’s C4 1000m.

Naja and Puławska won the gold medal at the 2022 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Halifax, Canada, beating Germany’s Paulina Peszek and Jule Hake, who came second, and Belgium’s Hermien Peters and Lize Broekx, who were third.

Few minutes before the women’s race Kitewski, Śliwiński, Głazunow and Zezula won the silver medal in C4 1000m race.

Also Aleksander Kitewski i Sylwia Szczerbińska won a bronze medal in the non-Olympic C2 Mix 500m race, losing to Canada and Germany.

Another medal won by Poland on Sunday was a silver one. Sylwia Szczerbińska, Aleksandra Jacewicz, Katarzyna Szperkiewicz i Julia Walczak were second in the non-Olympic C4 500m women’s race, beating Hungary but losing to Canada which won the gold medal.

Poland has seven medals. On Saturday, Oleksii Koliadych won the world championship in C1 200m canoe sprint. Karolina Naja, Anna Puławska, Adrianna Kąkol and Dominika Putto scooped the gold in K4 500m race, while Wiktor Głazunow and Tomasz Barniak won the silver in C2 500m race.
