Poland to channel EUR 700 mln to coronavirus fight

President Andrzej Duda and PM Mateusz Morawiecki have decided to find an additional PLN 2.75 bln (EUR 698 mln) in the state coffers to boost preventive measures against the Chinese coronavirus, the president said at a rally in Nysa, south-west Poland.

The president said he and the prime minister made the decision after four new coronavirus cases were detected in Poland on Friday, bringing the total count to five.

On Saturday, the health minister updated the count to six.

It will also be possible to use some of the funds for general healthcare, including oncology, Duda said.
