Poland to celebrate Day of Judaism
Celebrations of the 23rd Day of Judaism in the Catholic Church, under the slogan "Remember to Celebrate the Sabbath Properly" will take place in Gniezno, western Poland, on January 16 – 21, the Warsaw Archdiocese press office told PAP on Thursday.
The main event of Sunday's observances in Warsaw will be a debate on "Jews and Christians on the Holy Day". It will be attended by the Chairman of the Episcopal Conference of Poland (KEP)'s Committee for Dialogue with Judaism Bishop Rafał Markowski, Rabbi Stas Wojciechowicz, Stanisław Krajewski, Jan Grosfeld, Father Grzegorz Michalczyk and Father Andrzej Tulej.
On this occasion, Markowski issued a special message in which he said that the Day of Judaism is an occasion for common reflection over the need for Catholic-Judaism dialogue. "This year, it falls in special circumstances, as it converges with the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi German concentration camp of Auschwitz," Markowski said.
