Poland to celebrate 20th anniversary of joining NATO

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Poland's accession to NATO, the Defence Ministry has announced the official celebration will be held on March 9 and will include 20 picnics at military bases, concerts and meetings with soldiers.

Poland joined NATO on March 12, 1999. The anniversary events, under the title of "Poland's 20 years in NATO", held at the military bases will start at 11 am on March 9 across the whole country. All are welcome to attend the celebrations.

The Defence Ministry announced that the celebrations will include training and drill demonstrations, the presentation of equipment, concerts, meetings with soldiers of the Polish Army and Allied forces as well as various attractions for children.

The official raising of the Polish and NATO flags are planned for 1 pm and will be followed by the playing of national anthems.
