US citizens will be able to travel to Poland by air from Saturday following changes to Covid rules by the Interior Ministry.

In addition, participants in international music competitions organised in Poland will be allowed to cross the border, and on Wednesday a further three border crossings with Ukraine will be opened.

An amendment to the regulations on temporary suspension or limitation of border traffic was signed in the Journal of Laws on Friday by Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski. The restrictions were deemed necessary due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Under the changes, the list of countries whose citizens can fly to Poland will be extended from Saturday to include the USA.

Until now only citizens of Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Thailand, South Korea, Tunisia, Australia and Israel had the possibility to fly into Poland along with those who have a permit to remain in Poland.

In addition, among the people entitled to travel to Poland from abroad from Saturday will be performing artists, jurors, accredited journalists and guardians of participants and artists crossing the border in order to take part in international music competitions or festivals in Poland.

The Border Guard, however, will have to document their participation. This amendment will enable participants of the 18th Frederyk Chopin International Piano Competition to attend.
