Poland records 966 cases of Omicron coronavirus variant
Poland has so far identified 966 cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus, a deputy health minister said on Wednesday.
Waldemar Kraska told a public radio broadcaster that "The Omicron wave of the pandemic is completely different than the other waves we have been dealing with, as of today, we have confirmed 966 cases in our country."
He said that the new mutation accounts for nearly 20 percent of samples tested.
"We can see Omicron very quickly begins to displace the Delta variant. It was predictable, the same situation is in the countries of Western Europe," Kraska added.
