Poland ready to take responsibility for climate policy - president
Poland is ready today to take its share of responsibility for international security, including in the sphere of climate policy, President Andrzej Duda said at the official opening of the COP24 climate summit, which started on Monday in Katowice, south Poland.
Andrzej Duda pointed out that COP24 is taking place in the year when Poland celebrates the centenary of regaining its independence.
"The organisation of the climate summit proves that, just like the Poland reborn 100 years ago, our country is today actively working for peaceful cooperation between states, based on the principles of: observance of international law, equality, solidarity and mutual respect," the president stressed.
The Polish president also said that Poland is ready to support the negotiations "of key importance for the future of our and future generations" to be conducted during the summit.
