Poland ranks as fifth largest exporter of yachts in Europe

Poland is the eighth largest exporter of yachts globally and the fifth in Europe, the Polish Economic Institute (PIE), an advisory body to the government, reported on Thursday.

The PIE experts indicated that Polish shipyards had been producing around 22,000 sailing and motor yachts per year. "This includes luxury yachts as well as sailboats for beginners. Almost all production, 95 percent, is exported," PIE wrote in its weekly economic report.

Polish yachts are exported mainly to Germany and France. The remaining destinations are Turkey, Russia, Canada, Australia, China, Japan, Thailand and Middle East countries.

According to Eurostat data, Poland’s export yachts accounting for 61.2 percent of the total value of European yacht exports.
