A so-called air bridge was being prepared by Poland and its German partners for refugees from war-torn Ukraine who want to reach specific countries, the minister of infrastructure said on Wednesday.

Andrzej Adamczyk told the public TVP Info news channel: "Yesterday, I spoke with the German minister of transport, and we are preparing an 'air bridge' that will involve the use of German planes and Polish airports."

Adamczyk pointed out that the entire European Union must take part in this "relay" which would allow the refugees to reach the destinations that they have defined. "Not every refugee wants to remain in Poland," he added.

"Each EU country should share the burden of assiting Ukraine – and not just Poland and neighbouring countries, but the whole of Europe," he said.
