Poland launches local investment funding programme

As of Friday, local governments can apply to the state development bank BGK for financing under the government's New Deal economic recovery plan, BGK has said.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced a local investment funding programme that will provide up to 95 percent financing for investments with the initial tranche of the scheme capped at PLN 20 billion (EUR 4.4 billion).
In the pilot stage, Poland will favour motions for investments into water and sewage projects, waste management, road infrastructure and modernization of heat sources to zero-emission ones, BGK said.
Under the Polish New Deal policy platform, the ruling Law and Justice party planned to set up the Polish New Deal fund to finance modernisation.
