Poland is one of Europe's most competitive food producers - FAO official
The director-general of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has said that Poland has become one of the most important agricultural producers.
Qu Dongyu made the statement during the inauguration of the 33rd session of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations' Regional Conference for Europe (ERC33) in Łódź, central Poland, on Tuesday.
According to the FAO official, Poland's position in food production has been growing stronger. He also said that Poland belonged to a group of Europe's most competitive food producers.
Polish Agriculture Minister Henryk Kowalczyk expressed hope that the conference would find solutions to current threats to food security, which had been worsening following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
"Russia's aggression against Ukraine, which is an important world food producer, generates more threats to agriculture and food security," Kowalczyk said.
